Pastor Alvin René has a remarkable ability to reveal the numinous and emotive elements in nature through his paintings. He loves the created world in all its complexity and grandeur.
Alvin was born in Baltimore, Maryland. His mother was of Irish–German heritage. His father was a full–blooded Abenaki Indian from Odanak Reserve in Quebec, Canada.
Ordained to the ministry in 2000, he draws on his paternal family's ancient Indigenous culture and his belief in the Creator's Son, Jesus, as inspiration for his art.
